05 March at 12:00 Dissertation Kaisa Huhtinen 12 April at 11:00 Annual DDGS meeting 2010: Translational Medicine 22 April at 00:00 Oulu Symposium on Drug Metabolism: Xenobiotics - from evolution to medicines 23 April at 12:00 Dissertation Pia Rantakari The aim of the graduate school is to facilitate the transfer of inventions from basic research into diagnostic and therapeutic innovations in drug discovery and development. The Drug Discovery Graduate School (DDGS) is a network-type graduate school that includes research groups from seven universities (University of Helsinki, University of Jyväskylä, University of Kuopio, University of Oulu, University of Tampere, University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University) from VTT Biotechnology and from three drug discovery companies: Hormos Medical Ltd., Orion Pharma and Turku Imanet Oy (a subsidiary of GE HC). The students have graduated in medicine, health biosciences, biology, cell biology, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacy, genetics, biotechnology or engineering. DDGS is a member of FinPharmaNet which is an "umbrella" cooperation between four graduate schools, which concentrate on drug research. The graduate school has at present 44 students and 28 supervisors in 35 research groups. Twenty-eight students have graduated during years 1999-2009. See list here.
